Mike Horrigan

Coach

Michael was ordained as a Teaching Elder in the Potomac Presbytery of the PCA in 2001. His first call as a TE was as an Associate Pastor at Timonium Presbyterian Church, in Timonium, MD. Timonium was a church of about 350 members at the time. In 2005 he planted DaySpring Presbyterian Church in Glen Burnie, MD where he currently still serves. Prior to his ordination as a Teaching Elder he was ordained as a Ruling Elder in 1990. Prior to his call into the ministry Michael worked primarily as a project planner/project manager in the commercial construction industry and for a time owned and managed his own construction company.

Michael’s desire to coach pastors stems from his yearning to see other pastors not just survive in their ministries, in their family lives and in their personal lives but thrive. He believes that his own personal journey as a pastor in a large church setting, as a church planter as well as his prior secular employment can be of great benefit to pastors who are stuck and may need help finding a pathway to a thriving life and a thriving season of ministry. Because of Michael’s years as a pastor and ruling elder, his training as a coach with Flourish as well as his being a Credentialed Coach with both the International Coaching Federation and the Center for Credentialing and Education, Michael has a unique skill set that he brings to the table. His passion in both his coaching, pastoral ministry and personal life is to see the gospel of God’s grace transform and renew lives. In addition to enjoying working with pastors who are stuck and in need of encouragement and guidance in working with their leadership teams and volunteers, Michael feels particularly gifted at working with pastors who may be experiencing struggles in their personal lives.

Michael has been blessed with a wife who is also his best friend and partner in all things. He and Kathleen have been married for nearly 40 years and have four grown sons and 5 grandchildren with another on the way. Kathleen is a Licensed Certified Professional Counselor and has a thriving private practice that specializes in serving couples. Both Kathleen and Michael are certified presenters of Gottman’s Seven Principals For Making Marriage Work. Michael enjoys working out at his son’s Crossfit gym, playing piano, reading, traveling with Kathleen, playing with his grandkids and all things related to being on the water. Both Michael and Kathleen love camping, riding their electric bikes and spend as much time as possible each summer in their camper. He enjoys reading a variety of things, both non-fiction and fiction…from CS Lewis and Tim to to Wendell Berry and Flannery O’Connor.
