Doug Stelzig

Transitional Pastor

Doug was born and raised in Houston, Texas where he worked in the petroleum industry until sensing a call to the ministry. He attended seminary at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School near Chicago where he met his wife Cindy who is from Gastonia, North Carolina.  He was ordained in the PCA in 1991.  They served with Mission to the world in South Africa through 2010, and since then, Doug has served in a variety of other ministries, pastoral and parachurch. They have one son, Kurt, who died in an accidental fall at age 21.  When their world was shattered, Christ stepped in.  In their grief, Christ became more real to them, heaven became more certain, his promises more sure.  They have been changed and have a clearer and stronger faith in their Saviour and in the truth of his gospel. Since losing Kurt in 2016, they have been active in starting and leading GriefShare groups.  Having been a rolling stone for so much of his career, serving as a transitional pastor for a season and moving on to the next call has been a natural fit for Doug and Cindy who are "living in tents . . .  for [they are] looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God." (Heb 11:9-10)
